window.onblur & document.hidden
A browser window can lose focus while its page remains visible. blur and visibilitychange are separate events. Neither names another app. Mozilla’s Page Visibility documentation explains the distinction.
Browser events, screen sharing, and system monitoring reveal different information. This guide explains their limits for interview practice and permitted assistance. Follow the session organizer’s rules; ClawPad does not defeat assessment controls.
What these signals can show, and what they cannot establish on their own.
A browser window can lose focus while its page remains visible. blur and visibilitychange are separate events. Neither names another app. Mozilla’s Page Visibility documentation explains the distinction.
A page can receive pointer movement and boundary events within its own surface. A pointer leaving the editor does not show which other window is involved. No vendor-wide detection rule or accuracy measurement is established here.
Capture exclusion depends on the OS, capture client, and sharing mode. ClawPad requests OS capture exclusion where supported. Verify the received recording on a second device before a permitted session. An applied setting is not proof of the transmitted picture.
Screen placement affects comfort and where people look during a call. Looking toward another screen can have many explanations. Arrange a comfortable workspace and agree on which notes and tools are permitted before the session.
Capture settings and phone controls have separate limits. Neither hides the running process.
| Interaction | Desktop Interaction | ClawPad Native Architecture |
|---|---|---|
| Window Focus (Blur) | Selecting another window may move focus from the browser. | Showing or interacting with ClawPad may change focus. Test the actions you use. |
| Mouse Movement | Pointer use depends on the app and its keyboard controls. | Remote Pad offers phone controls. Cursor and focus behavior still need testing. |
| Screen Sharing (Zoom/Meet) | Captured content depends on the selected share surface. | OS capture exclusion is best-effort. Verify the receiving device in the exact sharing mode. |
| Head Position & Sightline | Placement affects reading comfort and camera framing. | Choose a comfortable phone position. A phone screen can still be seen or recorded. |
Some ClawPad actions can be controlled from your phone.
Open Remote Pad pairing in ClawPad and scan its QR code on a phone connected to the same trusted Wi-Fi. The current local transport is not encrypted. Network isolation or device policy can prevent the connection.
Place your phone where you can read it comfortably. Agree with your practice partner on the reference material and assistance you will use.
Try the phone controls, desktop inputs, show/hide, and resize actions. Capture exclusion depends on the OS, capture client, and sharing mode. Verify the received recording on a second device before a permitted session. A local preview alone is not receiver-side verification. ClawPad does not detect when sharing starts; use its manual Show or Hide Overlay shortcut when needed.
Understanding what assessment platforms can and cannot monitor.
Ordinary page JavaScript has no general API for listing native processes. Browser extensions, installed assessment software, device management, and a permitted screen share have different capabilities. ClawPad does not hide its process from Task Manager, Activity Monitor, or device administration.
No. A window blur event reports loss of focus. A visibilitychange event reports a change in page visibility. A page can lose focus while remaining visible. Neither event identifies the application receiving focus or, by itself, proves unauthorized assistance.
A page can observe pointer events within its own surface. Leaving that surface does not identify another application, establish use of a second screen, or prove a rule violation. This guide does not verify any assessment vendor’s detection model.
Yes. Showing or interacting with the overlay can change focus depending on the operating system and action. ClawPad does not promise uninterrupted browser focus. Test the controls you plan to use during an authorized practice session.
Remote Pad provides phone controls for supported ClawPad actions over the same local network. It can reduce reaching for desktop controls, but it does not guarantee a stationary cursor, unchanged focus, or secrecy. Use assistance only when permitted.
